The sinuosity referred to in the title is that of the always bewitching female body. In abstract forms, rituals, self-criticism, ironic, pseudo-mystical, erotic, provocative and symbolic, it is inevitably the protagonist in the works of the ten international artists on show, as always all coming from the OGA Collection.
La sinuosità cui si fa riferimento nel titolo è quella del sempre ammaliante corpo femminile. In forme astratte, rituali, autocritiche, ironiche, pseudo mistiche, erotiche, provocatorie e simboliche, esso è il protagonista nelle opere dei dieci artisti internazionali in mostra, come sempre tutte provenienti dalla Collezione OGA.
Cesare Bedogné (Sondrio, Italy, 1968) Cesare Bedogné is an Italian photographer, film-maker and writer. He graduated cum laude in Mathematics. In the course of his studies, he also deepened his interest for the visual arts, with particular attention to cinema, and “in the aim to capture the gaze in its pure state”, he eventually devoted himself to photography. "I believe that photography is an adaptation of vision to a spiritual necessity - the eye forms an image which in its turn, through its inmost resonances, refocuses and transforms the gaze itself". Nicholas Bertini (Verona, Italy, 1987) Since 2008 he is involved in graphic design studios and works for communication agency. During these years he approach the animation passing by motion design and traditional techniques. Currently he is working as a freelancer for animation agency, in parallel of development of experimental short films. His work is based on a constant research in non-conventional visuals and experimenting creative process. His first short Amelia (2015) give the mood of the future films; minimal b&w shots obtained with different styles and media following a narrative plot.
Teymur Daimi (Baku, Azerbaijan, 1966) filmmaker, visual artist, philosopher (PH.D.). Graduated from Azerbaijan State Art College in 1985 and Azerbaijan State Culture and Art University in 1993. Since 2001 he has been working on audiovisual sphere as a film director. He is participant of International Film Festivals, Exhibitions and Biennial including 1st Thessaloniki Biennial in 2007 and at the 53rd Venice Biennial in 2009 in the frame of Azerbaijan pavilion. Member of the Union of cinematographers of Azerbaijan.
Johannes C. Gerard (Cologne, Germany, 1959). Dutch/german artist, he studied at School of Printmaking and Design, Cologne, Germany and at Dun Laogharie School of Art and Design, Dublin. During his art career lived and worked among others in Ireland, Spain, Argentina, Taiwan. Currently lives in Berlin and The Hague (NL). Since 1981 participation in exhibitions, projects, video/film world festivals. In 2007 photography, installation, printmaking became main disciplines. In 2012 first videoinstallations. In 2014 first videofilms. At the same time became interested in performance arts.
Werther Germondari (Rimini, Italy, 1963), visual artist and filmmaker. Graduated in Institutions of Direction at the University of Bologna and at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome, collaborates since 1988 with Maria Laura Spagnoli (Amelia, Italy, 1960) Graduated in History of Music at the University of Rome, and in Institutions of Direction at the University of Bologna. Their first shortfilm was in the Official Selection of the Cannes Film Festival in 1994. 'Sex Equo' (2011) from which the episode in the exhibition, is their first long feature film.
Detlef Schlich (Cologne, Germany, 1962) is an interdisciplinary artist and ritual designer working with performance, photography, painting, sound, installations and film. His main concern is the exploration of the loss of boundaries between human beings and technology in the 21st Century, the emerging phenomenon of transhumanism in the digital age. His methodology is the creation of an alter ego, a mythical character, a contemporary manifestation of transhumanism which embodies the symbiotic relationship between the human experience and technology.
Oona Taper (Bozeman, USA, 1993) is a multimedia artist and experimental animator with a cohesive artistic practice that spans two-dimensional works, videos and installations. Her style is both whimsical and chaotic, utilizing distorted but recognizable figures, a strong use of sound and a mixed media approach to address themes of intimacy, technology, physical space and subjective experiences. Her short films have been screened at international film festivals, and her video installations and works on paper have been shown in galleries in both Boston and Philadelphia.
Natalie Wardle (Bradford, UK, 1994) is a visual artist/photographer based in Manchester. Her work looks at how women constrict their bodies to fit in with society’s ideal body types, exploring shapewear and tape that is placed over nipples to both cover and repress their form. She graduated with a BA in Photography from Manchester School of Art. She has exhibited around England and internationally in exhibitions such as Modern History at The Atkinson (Southport) curated by Lynda Morris and Two Night Stands at the Cooper Gallery (Dundee) co-curated by Lynda Morris/Cooper Gallery.
Meng Zhou (Shaoxing, Zhejiang, China, 1992) is of a generation that has formed its personalities and beliefs during a period of shifting social and economic circumstances, and through a boom in the availability of information and technology. Deeply engaged in the process of artistic creation, the idea of metamorphosis and individual socialization. Zhou presents his sensibility towards introspective concerns, which he has described as “being incubated and oppressed at the same time”.

Cesare Bedogné (Sondrio, 1968) è un fotografo, cineasta e scrittore italiano. Si è laureato con lode in Matematica. Nel corso dei suoi studi, ha anche approfondito il suo interesse per le arti visive, con particolare attenzione al cinema, e "allo scopo di catturare lo sguardo nel suo stato puro", alla fine si è dedicato alla fotografia. "Credo che la fotografia sia un adattamento della visione a una necessità spirituale - l'occhio forma un'immagine che a sua volta, attraverso le sue più intime risonanze, rifocalizza e trasforma lo sguardo stesso". Nicholas Bertini (Verona, 1987) Fin dal 2008 lavora in studi di graphic design e collabora con agenzie di comunicazione. Durante questi anni si avvicina all’animazione passando dalla motion graphics a tecniche tradizionali. Attualmente lavora in modo indipendente collaborando con produzioni video. In parallelo porta avanti la ricerca e lo sviluppo di corti animati sperimentali, attraverso una costante ricerca visiva, sperimentando e intersecando diversi processi d’animazione e prediligendo un approccio visivo minimale ottenuto con metodi di produzione interdisciplinari.
Teymur Daimi (Baku, Azerbaijan, 1966) film maker, artista visivo e filosofo laureato nel 1985 presso l'Accademia d'arte statale dell'Azerbaijan e nel 1993 all'Università statale di cultura e arte dell'Azerbaigian. Dal 2001 lavora come regista alla sfera audiovisiva. È autore di numerosi articoli e saggi in edizioni locali e internazionali di arte e cultura. Ha partecipato a festival, mostre e biennali internazionali, tra cui la 1a Biennale di Salonicco nel 2007 e la 53a Biennale di Venezia nel 2009, nel padiglione dell'Azerbaijan. Membro dell'Unione dei cineasti dell'Azerbaigian.
Johannes C. Gerard (Colonia, Germania, 1959) Artista di nazionalità tedesca e olandese, ha studiato alla School of Printmaking and Design di Colonia, in Germania, e alla Dun Laogharie School of Art and Design di Dublino. Durante la sua carriera artistica ha vissuto e lavorato in molti paesi. Attualmente vive a Berlino e L'Aia. Dal 1981 partecipa a mostre, progetti, video/film in tutto il mondo. Nel 2007 la fotografia, l'installazione e la stampa sono diventate le sue discipline predilette, poi nel 2012 realizza le prime installazioni video e nel 2014 i primi video e alle arti performative.
Werther Germondari (Rimini, 1963), artista visivo e film maker laureato in Istituzioni di Regia all’Università di Bologna e diplomato presso il Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia di Roma, collabora dal 1988 con Maria Laura Spagnoli (Amelia, 1960) Laureata in Storia della Musica presso l’Università di Roma, e in Istituzioni di Regia all’Università di Bologna. Il loro primo cortometraggio è stato proiettato nella Selezione Ufficiale del Festival di Cannes nel 1994. ‘Sex Equo’, del 2011, da cui l’episodio in mostra, è il loro primo lungometraggio.
Detlef Schlich (Colonia, Germania, 1962) è un artista interdisciplinare e designer rituale che lavora con performance, fotografia, pittura, suono, installazioni e film. Suo principale interesse è l'esplorazione della perdita di confini tra esseri umani e tecnologia nel XXI secolo, il fenomeno emergente del transumanesimo nell'era digitale. La sua metodologia è la creazione di un alter ego, un personaggio mitico, una manifestazione contemporanea del transumanesimo che incarna la relazione simbiotica tra l'esperienza umana e la tecnologia.
Oona Taper (Bozeman, USA, 1993) è un artista multimediale e un’animatrice sperimentale con una pratica artistica che comprende opere bidimensionali, video ed installazioni Il suo stile è sia ‘capriccioso’ che caotico, utilizzando figure distorte ma riconoscibili, un forte uso del suono e un approccio misto ai media per affrontare i temi dell'intimità, della tecnologia, dello spazio fisico e delle esperienze soggettive. I suoi cortometraggi sono stati proiettati in molti festival internazionali e le sue installazioni video e le sue opere su carta sono state esposte nelle gallerie di Boston e Filadelfia.
Natalie Wardle (Bradford, GB, 1994) è un'artista visiva con base a Manchester. Il suo lavoro analizza come le donne costringono i loro corpi ad integrarsi con i tipi di corpo ideali della società, esplorando il tessuto shapewear e il nastro che è posto sopra i capezzoli per coprire e reprimere la loro forma. Si è laureata in fotografia alla Manchester School of Art. Ha esposto in Inghilterra e all'estero in mostre come Modern History presso The Atkinson (Southport) a cura di Lynda Morris e Two Night Stands presso la Cooper Gallery (Dundee), co-curata da Lynda Morris e Cooper Gallery.
Meng Zhou (Shaoxing, Zhejiang, Cina, 1992) è di una generazione che ha formato la sua personalità e le sue convinzioni durante un periodo di mutamento delle circostanze sociali ed economiche, attraverso un boom con grande disponibilità di informazioni e tecnologia. Profondamente impegnato nel processo di creazione artistica, nell'idea della metamorfosi e della socializzazione individuale, Zhou presenta la sua sensibilità verso le preoccupazioni introspettive, che ha descritto come "essere incubato e oppresso allo stesso tempo".
